Helping Hand Challenge - Part 8

"Deeper and Darker"
The Lantern Bearer led the heroes deeper into the dungeon until the light from his charge fell upon a mysterious well.
A bit of a rush job this month as things have gotten rather stressful but I still think he turned out pretty good. I was attempting to continue practising my skin tones, going for a more sallow feel and adding purple around the eyes and a five o'clock shadow.
Rather unintentionally this month also turned out to be an exercise in painting brown, attempting to keep the same drab look while differentiating between all the different areas of the model.
I considered painting light effects from the lantern but as I didn't for the warrior or the link boy so I decided against it. I think it can look really cool when done well, but it generally works mostly from one viewing angle.
Overall I'm really quite happy with him. Dont forget to check out the other Helping Hand entries from Finch and Antmaster and until next time, Have fun gaming! The Duke

  1. Excellent again, the card terrain and the mimic also working well together. I'm wondering how long the resin mimic and gelatinous cube will keep their clear resin colour. I had a resin ghost which I recently painted as the resin was no longer transparent.

    1. I noticed the base of the Water Weird is slightly discoloured and my Gelatinous cube is distinctively yellow :)

  2. Great job on the face, Chris. The purple around the eyes is very effective.
